WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?

We recommend any calibre in the 7mm. – 9 mm. range for plains game. Should you be hunting the Big Five, law requires the .375 H&H Magnum, as a minimum calibre. There are no restrictions on ammunition.
You will be issued a temporary import/export permit on your arrival at your port of entry to South Africa.

You will need the following documentation to insure a smooth process through customs:
 

• Completed SAPS 520 application form (Click here to download form).

• Passport and return ticket.

• Proof that you are the legal owner of the firearm.

• Rifle export permit from your residing country.

• Invitation letter from the hunting outfitter in South Africa.

The process begins after you have collected your luggage and have exited the terminal. Your professional hunter will be waiting for you in the arrival hall to accompany you to the firearms declaration office.
